Aerospace engineers may design aircraft, space vehicles, satellites, and missile systems. In addition, they test prototypes to make sure that they function according to design. Aerospace engineers are employed primarily in manufacturing, research and development, and must have a bachelors degree in aerospace engineering or another related field. Aerospace operations technicians and mechanics, on the other hand, need only an associates degree to begin earning a good salary. The Fundamentals of Engineering exam should be taken immediately after earning a bachelors degree from an ABET-accredited program.
